1. DIY Pumpkin Centerpiece

Pumpkin pies are part of the staple Thanksgiving tradition. This is because pumpkins are a symbol of abundance on our tables and in our lives. They also represent the renewal of life in us and in our circle of family and friends.

A centerpiece is the perfect way to add color and interest to any table setting. This year, try making a fall-themed runner by using pumpkins as the main focal point. You’ll need a few different sizes of pumpkins, so start out small and work your way up to larger ones. Meanwhile, gourds and squashes stand for the daily rituals of our lives, so you can also add these to the table.

You can use two or three jar candles around the pumpkins. Scented candles in textured glass jars, surrounded with pumpkins, gourds and squashes, would create stunning shadows and silhouettes on your Thanksgiving table.

Whether you are baking a pumpkin pie or not for your guests, the pumpkin and candle combination would create an ambience that would suggest the pumpkin pie nuance.

I think that a nice variation to the traditional pumpkin is going for these artificial fiber and foam pumpkins with maple leaves, which serve as unique centerpiece among turkey, pie, sauces and stuffing.

Where to Find the Props

You can find a variety of faux pumpkins at Amazon. I personally like Tatuo’s faux pumpkins because they come with maple leaves too, which add variation to my décor.

2. DIY Wheat Stalk, Wheat Berry or Grain Thanksgiving Décor with Candles

If you’re looking for some ideas for how to decorate your Thanksgiving table, this earthy center piece incorporating wheat stalks and wheat berries. You can tie these wheat stalks and wheat berries in a bundle with a ribbon or twine. You can then place them in a glass jar at the center of the table or at corners.

You can also fill a jar with wheat grains and place a candle in the jar to light up your décor and give your guests something to feast their eyes on.

If you don’t have a glass jar, you can simply place a wheat stalk or wheat berry with each plate or even scatter wheat grains around the plates to add a nice rustic, harvest-inspiring touch to your Thanksgiving table. Use small votive candles around the table to add an element of light and warmth.
